About me

Who I am

I am a former professional rugby player and I played across England & Wales at an elitist level. Due to injuries sustained in my career, I spent more time off the field and more time rehabilitating and learning about the body.

As a result of this, I gained more qualifications and found an interest in the anatomy of physiology. I then went on to become a Level 3 Personal Trainer, specialising in sports rehabilitation and injury recovery. I also continued my personal development in functional types of movement such as kettlebells and boxing.

For the last 12 years I’ve combined my expertise that I gained from fitness and the world of rugby, with some of the knowledge of the top coaches in the game

I enjoy being able to share and pass on knowledge to transform the lives of my clients.

My Rugby Career

Clubs I’ve played for:

  • Newport dragons
  • Cardiff Blues
  • London Welsh

What I do

Effectively, I improve the lifestyle, functional fitness & mobility of individuals or business people.

I help to introduce people into the world of fitness to help them live a much more fulfilling and pain-free lifestyle.

My workouts help to improve flexibility and mobility, increasing overall general strength and fitness

Unlike other Life Coaches, I focus on correct exercises, allowing people to live a healthier lifestyle through fitness and nutrition. My advice is tailored to the individual’s needs such as: previous injuries, allergies and health conditions.

What I was doing before Personal Training

Before coaching I was focussed mostly on my rugby career. I also studied Sports Psychology at university, which helped me to understand how to bring the best out in people and unlock their full potential through fitness and exercise.

What surprises me most about my job

How trusting people are of me with their personal lives, such as gossip etc. Sometimes people tell me things they wouldn’t even tell their closest friends!

Who my most typical client is

My most typical client would be anybody looking to transform their lives with the right mindset, someone who is looking to make a change in their lives.

I would say the most regular aspirations of my clients are: weight loss, increased muscle mass, improved confidence, recovering from injury and ready to make change for the better.

I have a broad range of clients aged from 12-73.

Is my training just for bodybuilders / fitness freaks?

Definitely not, because bodybuilding is so specific, my training is not based around that.

I do help a lot of my clients to increase muscle mass, but this is one part of my training.

I focus on mindset, discipline and developing sustainable habits. My training is not just exercise, I also focus on nutrition, food choices, meditation, mobility and strength building

My biggest success story

I have a lot of amazing success stories, but one that stands out would be a female client that I’ve worked with for 3 years.

Her starting weight was 151kg, and through my training sessions she has managed to drop to her current weight of 96kg.

She was at a very high risk of diseases, such as Type II Diabetes that runs in her family. She’s managed to reduce this all the way down to low risk.

Although her weight loss is a part of this success story, her whole mindset and general health has improved.

My 3 pieces of advice for anyone starting their fitness journey

  1. Understand why you’re doing this and having that as a core focus, to keep you driven towards your goals
  2. Discipline and understanding it’s going to take a lot of work. 30-60 day transformations that you see on social media are very deceptive, and a lot of the time fake. Generally speaking, you’ll most likely see results after 3 months.
  3. Get into the mindset of enjoying the exercise. Find something that you enjoy, it doesn’t have to be in the gym, it can be swimming, walking, pilates, yoga… Find your passion, if you love to do something – it’s less of a chore to do.

How long will it take to start seeing results?

Timescales are a hard thing to pinpoint, it’s not a ‘one size fits all’ scenario. I always start with building the foundation first, stripping everything back to basic movements.

The more you do something, the more you enjoy it – the easier you’ll find it and more likely to stick to it
I would encourage 2-3 x a week for no doubt about 3 months

How you can get started

I would recommend anyone who’s interested in getting fit to test how serious they really are. Start by going for a walk, even if it’s just a 5 minute walk everyday, and then you can judge if you’re really serious about doing this more often.

After that, if you are interested, then get in touch. You can even book a session or register your details with me and I’ll get back to you.

From then we’ll have an initial conversation to talk about goals and programmes you want to get into.
